Comprising some of Scotland's finest gypsy jazz and folk musicians. A fusion of hot club gypsy jazz with Scottish, Celtic and Irish folk music, creating a unique musical experience. Vibrant Hot Club jazz laced with Celtic spirit from the treasure trove of Scotland’s musical heritage. A fun and exciting new project experimenting with gypsy jazz and Scottish/Irish/ Celtic folk influences. Expect some traditional Scottish tunes and a couple of songs mixed in with Django Reinhardt compositions as well as some pure Hot Club gypsy jazz favourites.

Paul Paterson is one of UK’s leading gypsy jazz guitarists, playing recently at the Django Reinhardt Festival in France. Jim Mackay is a noted guitarist in both gypsy jazz and Celtic styles, as is John Carnie, who is the author of The Scottish Guitar Book. Charlotte Paterson is an in demand gypsy jazz double bassist, recently back from the Gypsy Jazz Festival in Samois, France.

This band is a treat for all fans of gypsy jazz, Scottish and Irish folk music, Django Reinhardt, jazz, folk and all fans of the guitar!

Paul Paterson played the part of his hero, Django Reinhardt, in the stage production about Django in a recent Edinburgh Festival Fringe production - to much critical acclaim! He runs the Hot Club of Edinburgh and leads gypsy jazz masterclasses at festivals. Duved Dunayevsky the renowned European gypsy jazz guitarist recently was quoted as saying "Paul is a fantastic guitar player and a specialist of the music of Django Reinhardt."-

John Carnie's solo album of Scottish music was called "An exposition of fleet-fingered flatpicking that swings like a cat" by Scotland on Sunday. He is the author of the Scottish Guitar Tutor Book and plays in the Hot Club of Edinburgh and Hot Club of Glasgow. He recently gave masterclasses at the UK Guitar Show on playing Celtic music on the guitar and Rory Gallagher's Celtic acoustic styles.

Jim Mackay runs the the Hot Club of Babbity gypsy jazz jam sessions in Glasgow and also leads his own Scottish ceilidh band. He is much in demand as a folk guitarist and also a gypsy jazz player with a wide range of influences. A superb guitarist!

When not laying down swinging jazz bass lines, Charlotte Paterson is also a renowned tattoo artist who works under the name of Venus Flytrap! She is an in demand double bass player and played recently with Martin Taylor on stage.

The Celtic Django Project band members have an outstanding pedigree in both gypsy jazz and Celtic folk music as well as other wide ranging musical influences.
